Summary:

Answer me! How was Femieanne… SLAINE?!

Hilariously, the ship Deucalion is just a Terran ship with the the core and name plate ripped out from the mecha Deucalion.  Since Darzana needs Asseylum to power the ship, she graciously agrees to keep Asseylum safe until they reach Russia.  Calm is totally ok with this, since cute Martians are held to a different standard than ugly Martians, and Rayet still feels Martians can’t be trusted.  Inaho goes with a subdued tsundere approach, declaring he didn’t fight to protect Asseylum, but because any drafted soldier would be in danger if he didn’t fight back.  Baka!

Meanwhile, Slaine is hanging out at Cruhteo’s castle and getting tortured.  Slaine doesn’t want to reveal that Asseylum is still alive for fear she will be exploited, and his silence convinces Cruhteo that Slaine should be killed.  This does not jive with Saazbaum’s plans to milk Slaine for information, so while Cruhteo whips it good Saazbaum jumps in his Dioscuria to bust Slaine out.  Eventually Cruhteo puts the clues together and realizes that Slaine truly is loyal to Asseylum and should be honored, but before he can prepare his Tharsis for battle, Saazbaum beam-swords him and makes off with Slaine.

Who knew torture scenes made for such seamless flashbacking?  It totally makes sense that we could get short tidbits as Slaine kept going back to his happy place.  I wonder if Slaine really does know anything, or if his necklace will end up being some special item (which isn’t even in his possession, since Asseylum has it).  I can’t wait to learn more about the Aldnoah engines.  Why does the ship still fly when Asseylum takes her hands off the sphere?  Does it work as long as she’s in the vicinity, like Bluetooth?  Or does she just awaken it every so often?

As for Cruhteo, his entire crew is seriously just a step too slow at everything.  From letting Slaine get away to the the Count himself giving Saazbaum enough time to prep a Kataphrakt and fly over, it’s like they should have had Adidas sponsor the entire castle.  Fast don’t lie, Cruhteo (insert Russian joke).
